The Cocoyea Open Bible Choir has been faithfully serving in ministry for over thirty years. Throughout its history, the choir has distinguished itself through the presentation of original compositions, many of which have been written by current members, former members, and past choir directors.
Guided by a commitment to fulfilling God’s purpose, the choir seeks to minister through music, united in one spirit, one body, and one faith, while living according to His Word. The choir ministers under the spiritual leadership of Rev. Dr. David Jackson, Senior Pastor, and the musical direction of Mrs. Nikeisha Sinclair-Cooper, who has served as Choir Director for the past fifteen years.
Over the years, the choir has benefited from the dedication and leadership of several individuals, including Bro. Marcellin Owen, assisted by Bro. Reuel Lynch, as well as Sis. Amber Hercules, Sis. Anna Haynes, and many others who have contributed to the choir’s growth and development. For decades, the Cocoyea Open Bible Choir has regarded the Concert of Choirs as one of its premier annual events and has consistently aspired to participate in this significant gathering of ministry through music.
In 2016, the choir proudly launched its Christmas CD, featuring original compositions such as We Going Down and Jesus Is Christmas, alongside other selections including Birthday Party for Jesus and This Christmas, featuring Choir Director Nikeisha Sinclair-Cooper. The choir also participates annually in the ISAAC 98.1 Christmas radio feature, presenting medleys of original and traditional local Christmas songs.
In addition to these activities, the choir remains committed to ministering within the church congregation on a quarterly basis. Through song and worship, the choir seeks to encourage and inspire members of the church family while inviting others to become part of this vibrant and dynamic ministry.
