The San Fernando Open Bible Choir is a dynamic, mission-focused gospel ministry of the First Church of the Open Bible. The choir for over 40 years has built a longstanding legacy of musical excellence and has remained an integral part of the church’s Worship and Performing Arts Ministry, impacting lives through music, drama, worship, and creative expression.
In 2022, the choir experienced renewed growth and vitality, bringing together approximately 60 members from the youth choir, adult choir, and worship team. Membership spans teenagers to senior adults, reflecting a rich blend of experience, dedication, and emerging talent united by a passion for ministry and excellence.
The choir’s musical repertoire blends traditional gospel, with contemporary Christian and Caribbean musical expressions. Members are also exposed to drama and other elements of performance. Accordingly, over the years, the ministry has become widely recognized for its powerful live performances and impactful theatrical productions, particularly its annual Easter and Christmas presentations, which consistently attract sold-out audiences and positive
reviews.
The choir has also extended its ministry, to bring joy, hope, and evangelize beyond the local church setting of Trinidad and Tobago, the most recent being Barbados in 2025. In addition, the choir has been featured on recordings and DVD productions for the Gates Praise albums Change and Hope of Nations. There are plans to record and release original music in the near
future as the choir remains committed to inspiring audiences and sharing the message of faith, hope, and transformation through ministry in song.
A longstanding participant in the annual Concert of Choirs, the San Fernando Open Bible Choir continues to use the arts as a vehicle for worship, evangelism, and community outreach, and looks forward to continued participation for years to come.
